We started TeamCache because somebody had to handle the snack-bar money.
The first season I (Maya, our founder) coached my daughter's U10 softball team, I spent more time on the team's finances than I did on softball. Venmo screenshots. A Google Sheet that nobody else updated. A locked envelope of cash in the dugout that I forgot about for three weeks.
The platforms aimed at us were either ancient, expensive, designed for a Division-I athletic department, or all three. The newer apps did messaging or scheduling but not money — and money is the part that turns coaches into accountants.
So we built TeamCache. It's the platform we wished existed: a wallet, a calendar, an inbox, and a card, all wired together for the way youth-sports teams actually run. Free for parents — because parents already pay for everything else. Fair for coaches — because coaches are doing this on volunteer time. And honest about the money: we don't hold a dollar of yours. Our partner bank does. We're the interface.
We're a small team. Some of us came from fintech (Square, Stripe, Cash App). Some of us came from sports (former coaches, a former scout, two ex-PE teachers). Most of us are parents. All of us have, at some point, ended up holding $400 in cash and wondering whose tournament fees they were.
We hope your team gets on the list.
What we won't do.
Charge parents.
It would be the easy revenue model. We won't. Coaches and leagues pay; parents never do.
Sell or share kids' data.
Period. There is no "research partnership" with anyone. There is no advertising on the app. Ever.
Hold your money ourselves.
We are an interface to a regulated bank. If we go away tomorrow, your money is fine.
Optimize for engagement.
We measure success by minutes saved, not minutes spent. The best version of TeamCache is the one you forget about.
